Welcome to Montessori in Real Life! A little about me…I am a pacific northwest native, mama of one (soon to be two), wife to my amazing partner, arts and crafter, outdoors adventurer, and lover of all things sweet. Prior to being a full-time mama, most of my career has been spent caring other people's young children. I got my graduate degree in developmental psychology and then my AMS certification in infant/toddler Montessori education. During and after getting my certification, I co-taught in Montessori toddler classroom and led Montessori parent-infant classes (and I miss those kiddos!). Clearly I enjoy my line of work, because even now that I'm taking time off from teaching, I can't help but incorporate Montessori into my life.
The difference is that now all the focus is on one very special child. I am so in love with little D and it is amazing to watch her grow and learn new things each day. At the same time, this full-time mom thing has many challenges and thanks to my older and wiser sisters, I know it will only get more challenging (and hopefully rewarding)! I hope to capture the good, the bad, and the hilarious in this motherhood journal, with a Montessori theme throughout. Though I lean towards Montessori philosophy in my parenting style, I'm keeping an open-mind as to what works for our daughter, and for our family. Sometimes we just have to go with our instinct. :) Welcome to my Montessori-ish journey!
